How to Design Stunning Albelli Photo Books (formerly Albelli Photo Book Creator)
1. Plan your book
- Purpose: Choose a clear theme (vacation, wedding, baby, portfolio).
- Size & format: Pick size (square/landscape/portrait), cover type (soft/hard/layflat), and paper finish (matte/gloss).
- Length: Aim for 20–60 pages for most projects; shorter for gifts, longer for portfolios.
2. Curate and prepare images
- Select images: Start with 2–3× the number of pages, then narrow to the best shots.
- Resolution: Use photos ≥ 300 DPI at final print size; avoid heavy cropping.
- Edit consistently: Apply consistent color, exposure, and tone across images. Batch-edit in Lightroom/Photoshop if possible.
- Export settings: Export as high-quality JPG or PNG, sRGB, with minimal compression.
3. Create a visual flow
- Opening & closing: Start with a strong cover photo and finish with a memorable image or credits page.
- Pacing: Alternate full-bleed images with multi-photo spreads; use breathing space for emphasis.
- Story arc: Arrange chronologically or thematically to guide the viewer through a beginning, middle, and end.
4. Design principles
- Grid & alignment: Use consistent margins and a simple grid to align images and text.
- White space: Avoid clutter; white space highlights important photos.
- Contrast & hierarchy: Emphasize main images with size or color contrast; keep supporting photos smaller.
- Color palette: Use a limited palette for backgrounds, frames, and text to maintain cohesion.
- Typography: Choose 1–2 complementary fonts; use larger sizes for titles and small, legible sizes for captions.
